What are cookies
What is Local storage
Local storage is a more secure version of Cookies, and large amounts of data can be stored locally, without affecting website performance. Unlike cookies, the storage limit is far larger (at least 5MB) and information is never transferred to the server.
When you visit the publicly available sections of the Services, a PHPSESSID cookie is placed on your computer that only lasts the time whilst you’re visiting. If you become a Website member we place persistent Local Storage data on your computer.
Persistent Local Storage is used
- To be able to recognize you when you return to the Website
- To customize the Website to your own individual interests
- To save certain views and/or HTML pages on to your computer
- To be able to Login into the Service
Persistent Cookies are used
To provide anonymized statistical information via a third party
